Training for Teachers and Administrators

COOPERATIVE LEARNING

Cooperative learning helps students to process, problem solve and apply the material they’re learning.  Through conversations and interactions, learning comes alive and students begin to learn from one another in a supportive learning community.  When it comes to cooperative learning in a virtual format and/or socially distanced format, strategies need to be modified to best support the learning environment and to ensure conversations and learning is taking place.  Keeping students engaged and learning during this time is possible! This course will provide teachers with a foundational understanding of cooperative learning theory along with several strategies that can be used the next day with students.

MULTI-TIERED SYSTEMS OF SUPPORT (MTSS)

This training will provide teachers with a deeper understanding of Multi-Tiered System of Supports and how they relate to best practices within a school.  It will also provide administration and teachers with practical and easy to implement strategies to support growth and data informed decision making to improve student outcomes.

EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONING

Teachers have all worked with students who have executive function skill deficits. Some skill deficits might include: inability to start in-class assignments, tendency to lose things, inclination to make impulsive remarks, tendency to be late, etc.  


This training will provide dozens of proven, effective and research driven strategies for working with students who are lacking in the executive function skills of organization, time management, emotional regulation, attention and memory.  These practical ideas improve instruction and are easy to implement, while also providing strategies that struggling students can use throughout their lifetime.

PROJECT BASED LEARNING

Student engagement is paramount to learning and growth outcomes.  Project based learning allows students to investigate and explore a real-life, authentic, complex question or challenge in order to find a potential solution.  This training provides teachers with the tools and connects needed in order to implement Project Based learning in their instruction.

DIFFERENTIATED INSTRUCTION

Differentiation is taking place any time a teacher is responding to various learning styles and needs within their classroom. Reaching out to individuals, small groups and even whole group teaching can be considered different ways teachers try to reach all their students to improve learning outcomes. 


Students have diverse learning styles and needs.  Differentiation helps teachers to best support student learning in a variety of ways according to how children learn best.  This workshop provides strategies and background of differentiation in order o incorporate formative instruction and Tier 1 assessment into the classroom to best inform instructional practices.  

BEHAVIOR INTERVENTION AND SUPPORTS

Behavior is communication and is constantly occurring in any human interaction.  Better understanding the "why" behind behavior, the triggers, the impacts and outcomes can help teachers to better navigate diverse behaviors they come into contact with in the school setting.  From Tier 1 students to students in special education, planning ahead and better understanding the functions of behaviors provides guidance for teacher to prevent certain outcomes in their classroom.  Classroom rapport and structures are taught throughout training in order to best support teachers in behavior and classroom management.

TEACHER EVALUATION AND SUPERVISION

Best practices in teacher evaluation and supervision are imperative to strengthening teacher efficacy as well as retaining teachers in the profession.  This training supports administrators and teacher leaders in targeted observations and feedback conversations to best impact teacher reflection and growth in their work.
